Pass Or Fail
We are back in school!!
Yep, you read that right.
We are currently in RV driving school.
We would like to say we were “accepted” into RV driving school to make it even cooler but, nope, the only requirement is to have an RV.
Never in a million years would we have ever thought at ages 49 and 50 we would be learning how to drive our home.
But, here we are!
Our sweet instructor, now friend, is Roger.
I mean why wouldn’t you become friends with your instructor and have him on speed dial?
Having done the big rig / RV life for 30+ years, he knows way more about the RV’ing world than we ever will.
But let us stop here and tell you about Roger.
Roger is a retired Marine Veteran who is currently undergoing radiation for skin cancer.
He drives to Charleston from Blufton 3 times a week for his treatment so this week he has come after his treatments to spend 4+ hours for 3 days with us teaching us all we need to know before getting on the road.
Roger is a cheerleader and makes us feel like we can conquer the world behind the wheel of our RV.
He is patient and oh so kind!
He has shared many RV “war stories” not to scare us but to help us understand the seriousness of the unforgiving road and impatient drivers.
Have you heard of the “death wobble”?? (yikes)
If you’ve never driven an RV, a bus, or tractor trailer, trust us... it's not for the faint of heart!
It takes extra patience.
It requires you to be vigilant of your surroundings at all times.
And it also requires extra deodorant.
Maybe even an extra change of pants sometimes!
Yesterday we actually got to drive on the highway with other cars and trucks (big ones) and sweet Roger sat in the passenger seat.
Although we were white knuckled and sweaty palmed the whole time, Roger was calm as a cool breeze on summer day.
And his pants were still clean (that we know of) when we parted ways so that’s a good sign!
As we left Roger was like a proud Poppa.
With a smile bigger than our RV, he told us we PASSED with flying colors and how proud he was of us.
We officially hit the road May 11th so if you see us wide-eyed and white knuckled driving down the highway, please be extra kind.
And if we don’t wave or honk when your kids are feverishly doing the honk sign, well, our hands will most likely be glued at 10 and 2!
xoxo,
Jules and Stace 💙
